Bourbon Molasses Rub
Our Bourbon Molasses Rub is a full flavored sweet and smoky seasonings. It was developed with chicken in mind but through countless smokes and BBQs I found it to be amazing for slow smoked tri-tip!
The granulated molasses is from New Orleans. Domestic molasses differs from imported Molasses as domestic molasses has a shorter ripening time. Blackstrap molasses undergoes three boilings until no additional sugar can be extracted economically. New Orleans granulated molasses has the most flavor and lowest sugar profile possible of any molasses. For additional smokiness I went with roasted garlic and toasted onion. The touch of heat provided by the chipotle chiles also provides some smoky flavor.
Use a thin rub on your meats and let set overnight, then cook. For fish, an hour marinating should be fine.
Hand blended from granulated molasses, demerara sugar, orange, smoked Bourbon Barrel salt, garlic, onion, chipotle, paprika and red bell pepper. These come in our new LARGE bottles which are 50% larger than the regular spice bottles.
